Does it seem to you that fairly often a new diet starts showing up all over the place?
And it’s touted as the only way to consume your meals both for weight loss and health.
Now the one taking the spotlight is the plant-based diet. The one before that was the Keto diet, the Paleo, the vegan. And going back, all kinds of diets all intending to accomplish the same.
When I talk “diet”, I’m talking about daily healthy eating, not eating for weight loss. Because when you eat in a healthy manner, the weight will adjust itself to where your body is the most comfortable, and thus, healthier.
Let’s talk about that plant-based way of eating
which reminds me of a comment made by Dr. Mercola, a doctor who consistently expounds on adopting a healthy lifestyle. He advises the following:
“if it’s plant-based, eat it;
if it’s made in a plant, put it back on the store shelf!
And I give a big hurrah to that!
The Mediterranean diet which I’ve always championed is considered basically a plant-based diet since it calls for large amounts of those valuable fruits and vegetables along with other valuable components that literally guarantee a healthier life.
And how about the aid to your brain while eating a plant-based diet?
Read this quote from a dynamic husband and wife team on the cutting edge of brain science, Dr. Dean and Dr. Ayesha Sherzai,
“There is more than one food that is best for the brain, but if we had to pick one, it would be greens. It’s so incredibly nutritious that it can even blunt the effect of terrible foods like bacon and donuts. A close second would be beans because not only are they a great source of clean protein and complex carbohydrates, but the resistant starches regulate blood sugar and the fiber can help reduce cholesterol – two very important functions for brain health.”
Not only is a Mediterranean style diet good for your brain health, it will aid in making sure your overall health is elevated along with all that energy and oomph you will begin to feel and keep in the future!
So, if you’re looking for a diet that does the following:
Aids in reducing the risk for many of the insidious diseases that seem to be so prevalent today such as diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke, and some cancers.
Ensures healthy weight loss without counting calories, drinking all those shakes, checking a book with all the food points.
Helps to strengthen bones and also to help ward off dementia and depression
Promotes all that energy and zest we hope for!
