Do you have some health issues?
●Trouble getting to sleep?
●Trouble staying asleep?
●Not getting enough sleep?
●Not pleased with your weight?
●Stomach and constipation issues?
●Concerned about other health issues?
●Mood low – can’t seem to pull yourself out of that malaise?
These issues and so many many more can be helped in such a basic and elemental way. We’re talking about walking consistently, especially now that the weather is there to help us get going in our quest for better health! And what we want to emphasize is walking close to 10,000 steps almost daily.
We know that taking those almost daily 10,000 steps is an especially accepted goal because some research has shown coupled with other healthy behaviors it can lead to a decrease in chronic illnesses like diabetes, metabolic syndromes and heart disease. This is according to Michael F. Roizen, M.D, a physician and chief wellness officer at Cleveland Clinic.
If you have one of those bracelets that keep track of your daily steps, you’re probably ahead of the game.
However, if you don’t have one, there are so many free apps you can download on your phone to make sure you’re up to par with your steps. I downloaded an app called “Pacer” which is free and it keeps track of my steps daily, resets itself every day back to zero, then starts all over again.
One of the perks with being able to count and keep track of your walking efforts, is that every afternoon you can check the numbers, and if you come up short, just get those sneakers on, and get out there and enjoy the late afternoon weather all the while adding up the steps. Your body will just love it and will thank you!
Have you ever wondered what exactly happens when you faithfully follow this regimen?
You’ll be amazed at the serious benefits you’ll derive:
♥ Helps to lower cholesterol
♥ Aids with sleep issues
♥ Keeps weight where it should be
♥ Lowers depression and boosts mood
♥ Helps lower blood pressure
♥ Helps increase bone density which is a factor in osteoporosis
♥ Reduces inflammation and free radicals in your system
♥ Aids in digestion and cleaning out your system
♥ Allows you to connect with nature and also do some meditation
♥ Boosts memory and helps you to think and reflect better
And if the above benefits aren’t enough,
you’ll find a general health improvement since you will be reducing your risk for chronic disease and some potentially life-threatening diseases and conditions, including some cancers and Type 2 diabetes.
Here’s another perk we can all possibly find when we walk. A statistic I read claimed that if everyone did just 10,000 steps a day, we would probably decrease our healthcare budget by $500 billion a year. So not only will walking help us physically, but could also help with our budgets as far as outlay for our own healthcare costs.
I hope you will take all these benefits very very seriously because the evidence is so overwhelming that walking will change your life!
This minute, resolve to lace up those sneakers on a daily basis so you too, can just love life!!
